It Started with a 13-Year-Old Who Refused to Settle
Made by a student who needed every ingredient to matter.
Rowan is a water polo player, a student, a brother — and a kid who manages OCD and high anxiety every single day. He knows what it feels like when your body and your mind are both working against you.
Rowan's days don't slow down. School, sports, therapy — he's always on the move, always needing something he can throw in his bag, pack in his lunch, or grab on the way out the door. Something real. Something that wouldn't let him down halfway through practice, a performance, a long study session, or any of the hundred other things that fill a kid's day.
One day he went to the snack drawer and stood there. There were bars — bars for mom, bars for dad. But nothing clean, nothing simple, nothing made for a kid like him. That moment stuck. He had the idea. His mom heard it, believed it, and drew on her community to make it real. Together, they built something that didn't exist yet.

So many parents know what it's like to move fast and still want to get it right. Between the school runs, the work days, and everything in between, the food we reach for quickly matters more than we sometimes have time to think about — especially for kids navigating anxiety or sensory challenges, where what they eat feels connected to how they feel.
wholePlay grew from that tension. The wish to put something genuinely good in front of your kids — not perfect, but purposeful. Food that supports their bodies and minds rather than quietly working against them.
Then the Whole Family Showed Up

That's the thing about wholePlay Bars that no competitor can copy. This isn't a product built in a lab. It was built in a kitchen, by a family that decided if Rowan was going to do this, they were going to do it together.
His brother Landon. His sister Berlin. His parents. And a growing circle of friends who get it — Cruz, Asher, and others who live with anxiety themselves, or love someone who does. Kids and families who know what it means to navigate the hard days and still show up.
They looked at what Rowan was building and said: we're in.
Why Clean Eating Matters
The gut-brain connection is daily life for kids with anxiety.
Science has a name for it: the gut-brain axis. It's a two-way communication system — what happens in your gut directly influences how your brain feels, thinks, and responds to stress.
Most of the body's serotonin — the neurotransmitter tied to mood and calm — isn't produced in the brain. It's produced in the gut. When the gut is out of balance, so is everything else.

Rowan and his family are changing that. Not with a campaign. Not with a hashtag. With a bar that says: we see you, and we made this for you.
